Job Ads on Facebook and Instagram

With Meta, you reach a large group of people in the Netherlands on social media, including passive candidates who aren't actively looking but are open to a new job. With SOAP, your job ad goes live on Facebook and Instagram within five minutes, and the Targeting Agent decides who sees your ad.

Why advertise jobs on Facebook and Instagram?

Facebook and Instagram are among the largest platforms in the Netherlands. Facebook has 9.9 million users and Instagram 8.9 million, of whom 6.2 million use it daily. That makes Meta a logical channel to reach a broad group of candidates.

    Facebook

A broad audience, where we often reach experienced professionals and people returning to work.

    Instagram

A visual platform for images and short video in the feed, stories and reels, where we often reach a somewhat younger audience.

Which jobs is Meta often used for?

Meta is often used for volume roles where you're hiring multiple people at once, and for roles where candidates don't search job sites daily. This is an indication based on what we often see. Every job and region is different.

    Healthcare and wellbeing

For example care assistants, support workers and people returning to healthcare.

    Logistics and drivers

For example drivers, logistics staff and order pickers.

    Cleaning and facilities

For example cleaners and facilities staff.

    Production

For example production staff and operators.

    Security

For example security guards and supervisors.

    Technical roles

For example service technicians and technical staff.

    Combining Meta with other channels

You can use multiple channels per job. If you're also looking for young starters or vocational trainees, TikTok can be a good addition. For higher-educated roles or managers, organisations often also use LinkedIn.

    Targeting Agent

How does the Targeting Agent set your audience on Meta?

The Targeting Agent knows the options within Meta. It reads your job ad text, translates it into an audience on Facebook and Instagram, and uses data from earlier campaigns to adjust. You don't need to set anything up in Meta yourself.

    1. Reads your job ad text

Picks out the role, the location and the required skills from your job ad.

    2. Translates to Meta

Converts this into location, interests and behaviour within Facebook and Instagram.

    3. Learns from earlier campaigns

Uses the results of earlier campaigns to see which audiences produce applicants, and adjusts accordingly.

The Targeting Agent never selects on age, gender or background. In the Netherlands, you're not allowed to discriminate on these grounds when hiring, and that also applies to the audience for your ad.

Which ad formats can you use on Facebook and Instagram?

On Meta, your ad appears between posts from friends and family. Real colleagues and real workplaces often stand out more there than stock photos.

    Image in the feed

A clear photo with the role, the location and what you offer.

Short video for stories and reels

A short video of the workplace or a colleague talking about the job.

    Carousel

Multiple images in sequence, for example a day on the work floor.

What does advertising a job on Facebook and Instagram cost?

The costs consist of two parts: your ad budget and the SOAP monthly fee. How much ad budget you need depends on the role, the region and how many other employers are advertising to the same audience. With SOAP, you pay from €299 per month, with no markup on your ad budget.

Frequently asked questions about advertising jobs on Meta

What does advertising a job on Facebook cost?+
You pay your own ad budget plus the SOAP monthly fee, from €299 per month. How much budget you need depends on the role, the region and the competition. In a Recruitment Strategy Call, we make an estimate.
Do I advertise on Facebook and Instagram at the same time?+
Yes. A Meta campaign via SOAP runs on Facebook and Instagram, so you reach both audiences with one campaign.
What's the difference between Facebook and Instagram for hiring?+
On Facebook, we often reach experienced professionals and people returning to work, on Instagram often a somewhat younger audience. With one campaign on both platforms, you reach a broad audience.
Can I target on age or gender?+
No. In the Netherlands, you're not allowed to discriminate when hiring based on, among other things, age, gender and background. The Targeting Agent therefore uses role, location, interests and behaviour.
Do I need to set up the audience in Meta myself?+
No. The Targeting Agent sets the audience based on your job ad text and earlier campaign data.
Can I combine Meta with TikTok or LinkedIn?+
Yes. You choose one or more channels per job. Which combination fits best depends on your job and audience. We're happy to look at that together in a Recruitment Strategy Call.
